Mill Street Barracks, St Helens – Merseyside

Built in 1861 Mill Street Barracks, has seen its fair share of paranormal activity. Ghostly  figures of  soldiers, nurses , animal and nurses have all been witnessed at this location. The Barracks echos the past  military and local history. It has seen the  billeting of many branches of the armed forces throughout its life. This building has witnessed many comings and goings that have  involved numerous wars, including the last 2 World Wars.

During its military use the Mill St  on site morgue has seen many deaths from previous campaigns. A tunnel from the Barracks leads to the local church and nunnery . This is where it is believed that  the dead  were brought to be  to blessed, before  being sent on to their final resting place. The location has several other uses, amongst them acting as a TB Isolation hospital. This may also explain some of  the Paranormal Phenomena around nuns and nurses.  There are friendly spirits associated with the location. Look out particularly for the one with wandering hands  🙂
